(Ithaca, NY) –The Cayuga Media Group (parent company Saga Broadcasting NYSE: SGA) recently launched an online news/information site tapping into the power of their ten (10) radio stations in Cortland and Ithaca New York. Cortaca Today aims to bring news, information, and entertainment to the primary geographic areas of Tompkins and Cortland counties.
“We have built a wonderful product that consumers can easily access from computer, mobile, and tablet- and soon through a simple app.” said Maddie Cavataio, Editor in Chief of Cortaca Today. “We also have a direct relationship with legendary News Talk WHCU Radio, which gives us both the ability to share news and expand conversations online and/or on air as needed”.
“It’s extremely important that our citizens have access to information and news that is honest and local and that it connects them to the region that we all call “home,” said Joe Salzone, News Director at WHCU Radio. “Both Tompkins and Cortland County are connected in many ways. From the main road travel of Route 13 to the colleges and universities that are so important to the region, and the people that live and work here. We can now connect seamlessly on air and online.”
“Cortaca Today gives us the ability to combine our powerful radio news team and our online reporting into a news and information delivery system to desktop computers, wireless devices 24/7 though a simple app download” said Marketing Director Alex Bregman. “We are already getting thousands of readers per day in the first week.”
“We have gotten excellent ideas and feedback from many trusted people in our community and will continue to work hard to expand this site for our Tompkins and Cortland counties” said Cayuga Media President Chet Osadchey. “WHCU and its professional radio news team bring news to the region every 30 minutes. Our ability to promote across all our stations towards a single online source will have an immediate and ongoing benefit to all.”
The site features local news, weather, sports, obituaries, health and wellness, and many other components to connect the community. The site address is www.cortacatoday.com and the app is now available in the Apple store. Cortaca Today is one of the eighteen (18) online news sites that Saga Broadcasting will launch this year.
